The department of community health nursing is involved in training of undergraduate nursing students in the field of community health nursing. Students are trained in the area of family assessment and community assessment to identify health problems of people living in the community. Students are further trained to make referrals for people identified to have problem and to give health education with emphasis on primary prevention.

The department of medical and surgical nursing provides courses related to adult nursing as well as advanced nursing practice within the framework of the curriculum of Kerala University of Health Sciences and Indian Nursing Council.
The department provides student-centered teaching and learning in conducive atmosphere for hands-on experience that helps the students to gain confidence in their nursing knowledge, skills and attitudinal practice. The faculty of the department focuses on the student’s knowledge, skills and attitudinal acquisition to meet the demands of changing patients’ demographics, disease severity and complexities in health care technologies.
